Cultural route

Immerse yourself in the city’s cultural heritage, which still thrives with tradition today.


On this 1-2 hour walk, you will explore Piran’s historical and cultural treasures, including the Museum of Underwater Activities, the Herman Pečarič Gallery, the Sergej Mašera Maritime Museum, the Magical World of Shells and the landmarks of Tartini Square.

Along the way, you can also admire the Tartini Monument, Tartini’s Birth House, the Municipal Palace, the Piran Civic Gallery, and the picturesque IX Corps Street. The walk concludes with a visit to St. George’s Cathedral and its bell tower, offering a magnificent view.

Religious Path

Explore intricately designed and richly decorated religious monuments.


The grand religious architecture, dating back to the Venetian era, defines the picturesque charm of Piran and gives it a unique character.

On this 1-2 hour walk, you will visit the following important landmarks: Church of St. Rocco, Church of St. Peter, St. Francis Church with its Renaissance artworks and altars, the Minorite Monastery of St. Francis with a stunning cloister that hosts musical events, and St. George’s Cathedral, the largest church in Piran, offering breathtaking views from its 47.2-meter-high bell tower. This route provides insight into the rich cultural and religious heritage of Piran.

History Path

Discover history and immerse yourself in the mysterious stories of past centuries.


A strong Venetian architectural influence will guide you through narrow cobbled streets and grand buildings of impressive design.

On this 2-3 hour walk, you will visit Piran’s most significant historical and cultural landmarks, including Tartini Square, the Tartini Monument, Tartini’s Birth House, the Court Palace, the Venetian House, the Church of St. Peter, the City Walls, St. George’s Cathedral with its famous bell tower, and Mediadom Pyrhani, where you can experience the town’s history in a modern and interactive way.

Salt Path

Step into the enchanting world of the local natural treasure – salt.


The rich tradition of salt making, the former salt pathway and the healing effects of salt therapies will ensure, that you will remain captivated by these small white shimmering crystals.

On this 5-6 hour walk or 2-3 hour cycling tour, you will explore stunning natural and cultural landmarks. You will visit the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, where salt is still harvested using ancient methods, and the Museum of Salt Making, which reveals the life of traditional salt workers. You will also enjoy the relaxing views at Thalasso Spa Lepa Vida and admire the stone sculptures at Forma Viva. The route takes you through the picturesque Valeta Tunnel and into the Landscape Park Strunjan, where you’ll be amazed by the Strunjan Salt Pans, the imposing Strunjan Cliffs, and the idyllic Moon Bay.

Boškarin Path

Discover the Istrian countryside and the traditions of its hinterland villages.


The Boškarin, an indigenous Istrian cattle breed, was once a loyal companion to local farmers. Follow in its footsteps through the stories of the Istrian countryside and visit landmarks closely tied to the traditions of hinterland villages.

On this 4-hour journey along the Boškarin Route, you will explore the heritage of the Istrian countryside. To fully experience the route, you will need a car for transportation. The trail takes you through Padna, where you can visit the Church of St. Blaise and the Božidar Jakac Gallery, and continues to Krkavče, where you will discover the Krkavče Stone and the Church of St. Michael the Archangel. Along the way, you will also admire the natural beauty of the Dragonja River Valley, the Škrline waterfalls and the Stena natural monument. Ideal for nature and history enthusiasts who wish to explore the unspoiled beauty of Istria.

Along the Austro-Hungarian Riviera

Stroll along the coastal promenade with a rich historical past.


During the golden era of Portorož, the Austro-Hungarian elite was drawn to the riviera by the fresh sea air and beneficial climate. Walk along the seafront promenade, where architectural masterpieces and monuments from this period stand out.

On this 1-hour walk along the Austro-Hungarian route, you will explore the historical landmarks of Portorož, starting with the magnificent Palace Hotel, once the most prestigious hotel of the Austro-Hungarian Riviera. You will continue past the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Fountain – a memorial to the Sailors, which adorns the main square of Portorož. The route also takes you to Villa Maria, the former residence of an Austro-Hungarian general, and concludes at the historic salt warehouses Grando and Monfort, which now serve as galleries for contemporary art.
