The 156,5 km long race is part of the UCI calendar and is registered under category 1.2.
The beginnings of the race date back to 2014. Until 2016, it was called the Izola Grand Prix. The goal was to connect all four coastal municipalities of Izola, Koper, Piran and Ankaran. With the growth of the Slovenska Istra brand, we managed to connect with all the municipalities and the race got a new name, “Velika nagrada Slovenske Istra”.
