This year, Portorož marks a remarkable milestone – 140 years of tourism.
This is more than just an anniversary; it’s a story of perseverance, vision, and the evolution of a town that grew from a modest spa with ten rooms into one of the most recognized tourist destinations in Slovenia and the Adriatic. With this celebration, we pay tribute to the rich history of the town and the individuals who have shaped the identity of Portorož over the decades through their dedication and hard work.
The central event will be both a tribute to the past and a celebration of the present – with a special focus on the historical importance of postcards, which once played a key role in promoting Portorož. Visitors will even have the chance to send a commemorative postcard from this town that has welcomed guests from around the world for over a century.
As part of the event, the Tourism Excellence Emblem 2025 will be awarded. The celebration will be enriched by members of the Rosa Klementina and Anbot associations, whose presence will evoke the spirit of the past. A historical fashion show, curated by Barbara Misson, will offer a vivid walk through different eras. The evening will culminate with a concert by the legendary band Faraoni, whose many hits have left a lasting mark on generations of listeners. Local vendors will also take part, offering a selection of delicious Istrian specialties.
Admission to the event is free.
