The Portorož rowing regatta has been held since 1992 and, due to its excellent organization, it has always been a popular sports event among Slovenian rowers as well as athletes from foreign rowing clubs. Due to the regularly praised good organization and the open program for all age categories, over the years the number of competitors at each event has escelated to 350 athletes. The special feature of the Portorož rowing regatta is the decades-old tradition of awarding laurel wreaths to all winning teams.
