Spellbound contemporary ballet company from Rome, Italy
Spellbound Contemporary Ballet’s Vivaldiana is inspired by the work of Venetian composer and violinist Antonio Vivaldi. The performance has all Vivaldi’s expressive power: rhythmic vibrations, euphonious concentration of singing in the adagios, the sharp, languid polyphony of the fugues, the pleasing subtlety of colours and sounds. The choreography is by Mauro Astolfi, who founded the company in 1994 after returning from the United States. Astolfi translates Vivaldi’s clear musical lines into movement using the universal language of dance.
