42nd Piran Music Evenings

For 42 years, Piran has been organizing summer concerts featuring outstanding musicians, which makes this lovely Mediterranean town an important centre of unrepeatable chamber music and provides a unique musical backdrop to its marvellous architecture.

With its programme and organization fostering quality, the festival ranks among the elite of today’s chamber festivals. The aim of the festival is to continue the music tradition initiated by the famous Piran-born violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini and the “Accademia dei Virtuosi” in the 18th century, as well as to strengthen cross-border cooperation.

The past three decades saw participation of more than 200 Slovene and foreign solo performers and ensembles. The programme variety is reflected in the selection of not only ensembles and performers, but also authors and periods performed. They range from medieval compositions to baroque masters, from the giants of classical music and romanticism to contemporary composers and new pieces by emerging authors.

The concerts enrich the music scene in the wider region and offer an unforgettable music experience in Slovene Istria.

Organizer: Avditorij Portorož – Portorose
