About the artist:
Alexander Gadjiev, BBC’s 2019 New Generation Artist, is one of those select few
Slovenian performers that the whole music world talks about in superlatives.
He is one of the most important representatives of modern European pianism,
and signs his name under original interpretations that cross the boundaries of
the traditional frameworks. A thoughtfully curious musician with intellectual
and cultural breadth, technical mastery, and interpretive depth, Gadjiev has
conquered critics and audiences across Europe, Asia, and the USA. The multiple
winner of many competitions entered into the musical elite with his resounding
victory at the prestigious Hamamatsu International Piano Competition (Japan,
2015), convincing, among others, the first lady of world pianism, Martha Argerich.
He further confirmed his extraordinariness by winning the elite international
competition Monte-Carlo Piano Masters 2018. In addition to solo recitals, he
performs with internationally renowned orchestras and under the baton of some
of the most distinguished conductors. His concerts are broadcast on numerous
radio and television stations, and he has been meticulously enriching his album
collection together with labels like Suonare News, ALM Records Japan and
Acousence Records. Despite his outstanding achievements, he continues to
deepen his knowledge – he is currently studying at the Mozarteum University
Salzburg under Pavel Gililov’s mentorship and attending Eldar Nebolsin’s classes
at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. He also regularly hones his skills on
masterclasses – even the most prestigious ones, intended for but a handful of
pianists from all over the world (such as the Piano Academy Eppan in Italy and
the Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland).
