The 77th maritime baptism is held every year by the Piran Maritime School (GEPŠ) to welcome a new generation of future seafarers.
The first baptism in the form of a spontaneous event without the presence of students and professors was staged by students in 1947. Over the years, the event changed and became an important maritime, ethnographic event, which is, among other things, the oldest continuous event in Slovenian Istria and the oldest continuous school event in the country.
