Beyond
his fame for his virtuosity and originality, Giuseppe Tartini is also
remembered as a great maestro, capable of building around himself what has gone
down in history as his “School of Nations.” This was the name given to the
cosmopolitan group of students from across Europe (and beyond) who, under his
guidance, found in Padua a place for study, discussion, and cultural dialogue.
This model of openness and inspiration is today embodied by the Accademia &
Ensemble Cordia, which will perform a concert on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at
8:00 PM in the splendid setting of the Church of St. George in Piran, conducted
by Stefano Veggetti.
It will be a tribute to Tartini, but also to his pedagogical and human legacy,
which still resonates today as an invitation to think of music not only as art,
but as a vehicle for exchange and knowledge.
“A concert that aims to be more than a simple succession of pieces: it will be
a journey into memory, an invitation to immerse ourselves in the sounds of the
past while listening to what continues to move us in the present, following in
the footsteps of a man who saw music as a bridge between peoples, the arts, and
the sciences.”
