The Krka brass band is recognized in Slovenia and internationally as one of the best amateur brass bands. It is a multiple winner of international brass band competitions in Italy (1995, 1997, 1999 and 2015), Germany (2002), Hungary (1999, 2010) and the Czech Republic (2022). The orchestra is a five-time winner of national brass band competitions, national champion in the highest category (2006, 2012) and recipient of a gold medal at the World Music Competition in the Netherlands (2005).
The orchestra regularly collaborates with internationally renowned composers and conductors such as Nigel Hess, Philip Sparke, Alexandre Kosmicki, Jose Suner Oriola and Bart Picqueur. He has been taking care of young people’s musical involvement for many years with music workshops – Summer Music Hours. With its innovative way of working, the orchestra is an example of good practice and always provides a high-quality program offer. It excels in the implementation and approach to projects that raise social creativity to a higher level each time. The orchestra is a promoter of Slovenian creativity, cultural heritage and quality musical education. Since 2007, it has been led by conductor Matevž Novak.
