When in 2017 a new, enthusiastic generation of musicians arrived in Marezige, the young women, eager to continue creating in a big band, actively began forming a new ensemble to fill the gap left after the decline of the local big band Hrošči. At the beginning of 2018, the new Istrian big band Bend-it! Orchestra started rehearsing. The leadership of the band was then taken over by the renowned saxophonist Lovro Ravbar, and today it is conducted by trumpeter Primož Štefančič.
The members of Bend-it! Orchestra include both professional musicians and students, enabling a lively exchange of knowledge and energy that the musicians feel while creating together. With this very energy and their visible love for making music, the band captivates its audience, which supports them tirelessly. Accompanied by the irreplaceable Manca Kozlovič, Bend-it! regularly brings their music to life. They are currently preparing an explosive program dedicated to the legendary American funk group Tower of Power.
Bend-it! proudly recalls numerous performances at home and abroad, including Jazz Club Ljubljana Castle and the international FIMU Festival in Belfort, France. Every year, the band also performs at the largest international big band festival in Europe, MareziJazz, which is itself shaped by the dedicated efforts of the members of the Marezige Youth Association.
