EuroCubans is a group of 14 top Cuban and European professional musicians. It was initiated by the Slovenian percussionist Črt Pšeničnik and the Grammy Award winner and central figure of Cuban music – Juan de Marcos González. The Cuban bandleader, arranger, musician, and actor is best known for his work with Buena Vista Social Club and Afro Cuban All Stars and is also known from the animated film “Vivo” (Sony Pictures, 2021) as the voice of Andrés, the owner of Vivo. González’s collaborations with many prominent musicians have made a visible contribution to the worldwide popularisation of Cuban music. In addition to Pšeničnik and González, the group is made up of other leading names in jazz and Latin popular music. These are trumpeter Juan Munguia (Irakere, Dizzy Gillespie & United Nations Band, Paquito D’Riviera, Celia Cruz), percussionist Rolando Salgado Palacio “nino mentira” (Afro Cuban All Stars, Candido Febre, Conjunto Chappottin), pianist David Alfaro (Afro Cuban All-Star, La Banda JB de Juaquin Betancourt) and vocalist Emilio Suarez Martinez (Willie Colón, Israel López Cachao, Afro Cuban All Stars).
