Gala ballet evening on the 10th anniversary of the Piran & Portorož Summer Ballet Festival
Initiated by the Association of Ballet Artists of Slovenia, the first edition of the Summer Festival Piran was held in 2014. The very first edition of the festival, aimed at cultural enrichment during the peak tourist season, was so successful and well-received that the Summer Festival Piran has become an annual fixture of Piran’s summer nights, and the Association of Ballet Artists of Slovenia, along with the Municipality of Piran and the Auditorium Portorož, is one of the main organisers of the festival. The 15-day cultural events of the festival, which took place from 2014 to 2018 on a stage set up in Tartini Square, were designed to offer a spectrum of different cultural genres, from classical to contemporary ballet, modern dance and tango, children’s performances, classical, contemporary and ethno music. The Piran Summer Festival was easy to run, with no admission fee, and was therefore considered to be a range of excellent cultural events that were accessible to all.
