International Symposium Forma viva Portorož

The jubilee stone sculpture symposium FORMA VIVA PORTOROŽ 1961-2021 (10 September – 16 October 2021), which will be marked by nature and its intertwining with contemporary art, is entitled ART & NATURE.

Nature in all its manifestations as a motive or challenge for the creation of four invited artists: Max M. Seibald (Lienz, 1968), Austria; Alberto Scodro (Marostica, 1984), Italy, Mario Lopes (Leiria, 1981), Portugal; Jure Markota (Slovenj Gradec, 1981), Slovenia.

These are internationally renowned representatives of the middle generation and promising younger visual artists. The sculptors will carve stone from the Kanfanar quarry in Croatian Istria for four public locations in Istrian towns, in Piran, Izola, Koper and Ankaran. Namely, all four municipalities, with their active participation in this year’s symposium, supported this unique artistic event, which has been recognizable in the international arena for six decades.
