Smrdel Brothers Collective is a music collective led by two virtuosos of the younger generation: bassist Peter Smrdel and drummer Žiga Smrdel. The group was originally formed as a backing band for the 30th anniversary of the radio show “Izštekani” on Val 202, where Peter and Žiga, together with a 17-member ensemble, arranged and performed the greatest hits of renowned Slovenian artists such as Vlado Kreslin, Siddharta, Vazz, Laibach, Fed Horses, Mrfy, and many others on the sold-out stage of the Križanke open-air theatre.
Since then, the collective has collaborated with numerous established performers, including Dan D, Klemen Klemen, Murat & Jose, and Klemen Slakonja, creating unforgettable musical projects.
Peter and Žiga began developing ideas for original compositions during the 2020 pandemic. In the summer of 2024, they premiered a project at the Jazzinty Festival, co-created with the exceptional singer-songwriter and vocalist Marina Mårtensson, a member of the legendary group Laibach. Their music weaves together elements of soul, R&B, funk, hip hop, and jazz.
Joining Peter, Žiga, and Marina are two talented young musicians: pianist Aljoša Kavčič and guitarist Matevž Počič.
