HENNING KRAGGERUD, VIOLIN

Norwegian violinist is Artistic Director of the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. Recent highlights include engagements with the Toronto Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Danish National Symphony and Tonkünstler Vienna, whilst the current season holds return visits to the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss am Rhein, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic and Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra. A prolific composer, Kraggerud’s largest- scale work to date is entitled Equinox: 24 Postludes in All Keys for Violin and String Orchestra. Commissioned, premiered and recorded by the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra with Henning as soloist, the work was composed as a musical counterpart to a story specially written by world-famous author Jostein Gaarder, and has been hailed as “a fascinating composition to return to over and over again” (MusicWeb International). Henning is a Professor at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, and International Chair in Violin at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He plays on a 1744 Guarneri del Gesù, provided by Dextra Musica AS. This company is founded by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.

PETTER RICHTER, GUITAR

He is considered one of the foremost guitarists of his generation, and has studied in Norway, France, Germany and Austria. He has won awards in several international competitions, and has also performed widely in Europe, such as in Berliner Philharmonie and Grosse Festspielhaus in Salzburg, as well as in parts of Asia and North Africa. More recently, he has made a mark as a chamber musician, collaborating with musicians like violinist Henning Kraggerud, and performing at highly regarded chamber music festivals in Stavanger and Risør, playing both the guitar and the lute. He has been an associate professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music since 2018.
