GERMAN CHAMBER ACADEMY NEUSS
Thanks to a combination of enthusiasm and dedication, the German Chamber Academy Neuss puts on breath-taking shows that make them one of “the leading chamber orchestras in Germany”, according to German music magazine “das Orchester”.
The discovery of music as a common language is key at the Chamber Academy. The members of the orchestra, who come from twenty different countries, have developed a deep, mutual understanding that makes for an inimitable sound, both in the studio and on stages around the world. Their extensive repertoire ranges from baroque, through avant-garde, to jazz.
Dutch violinist Isabelle van Keulen, one of the greatest modern violinists, is Artistic Director at the academy since 2017. Andrey Boreyko, Krzysztof Penderecki, Alexander Lonquich, Lavard Skou Larsen, have all taken their place at the dkn conductor’s stand, as well as Lord Yehudi Menuhin in the orchestra’s early years. In March 2019 the Austrian-Hungarian violinist and conductor Christoph Koncz started his tenure as Chief Conductor of the academy.
The orchestra has also recently completed tours in South America, Spain, Finland and Poland. Preparations are now under way for concerts in France and China, along with a number of guest appearances at well-known festivals. Some of the international soloists who regularly play with the dkn include Kolja Blacher, Marc Coppey, Henning Kraggerud, Carolin Widmann, Guy Touvron, Philippe Cassard, Alexander Lonquich and tenor Juan Diego Flórez, who accompanied the German Chamber Orchestra for their début at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
