Visit the Dolphin Centre in Piran

The Slovenian Society for Marine Mammals Morigenos opened the Dolphin Center in Piran, the first scientific and educational meeting point dedicated to marine mammals in Slovenia. The purpose of the center is to bring dolphins and their entire marine environment closer to the public and to draw attention to the importance of science in marine conservation.
The exhibition, which collects interesting things from the life of dolphins, also presents the research work of the Morigenos Society in more detail. The exhibition is complemented by interactive elements, such as an educational app that allows visitors to experience the work of dolphin researchers, learn about their equipment and some research methods, and a sound room in which footage of the sea, vessels and dolphin advertisements remind of the importance of sound in the marine environment .
In the center there is also a life-size realistic statue of a dolphin, created directly after the image of one of the first identified and most frequently observed dolphins in the Slovenian sea, the porpoise, which is considered to be the only type of marine mammal that permanently resides in our sea.
Opening hours: Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
