Vruja

Founded in 2001, in 2021 it celebrated its twentieth anniversary with the new album “Ljubezen, vojna in…življenje”. At all times in her performance of Istrian folk music, she remains faithful to her principle of equally representing the folk musical heritage of the entire Istrian peninsula, i.e. of its three indigenous nations. Thus, he sings songs in Slovenian, Italian and Croatian dialects, and presents folk instrumental music on his own folk instruments, to which he adds some more modern ones based on inspiration.

In arranging folk music, he tries to preserve the original lyrics, melodies and folk way of performing, and the arrangements themselves preserve its essence. The group has so far released five studio albums and performed at some important festivals at home and abroad. She established herself as a fresh and convincing interpreter of Istrian folk music. The last album entitled “Love, war…and life” with which he celebrates his anniversary was released in 2021 and is thematic. It represents the time of peace immediately before the First World War, the wartime of the great sea, and life slowly returning to its normal tracks after it, albeit with deep wounds and difficult memories.
