Church of St Blaise
Church, Padna
The Church of St. Blaise, the main parish church of Padna, was built in 1867 on the site of a smaller 13th-century chapel. It features a stone main altar with a wooden statue of St. Blaise, the patron saint of the village. Inside are two wooden side altars, one dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the other to Our Lady of the Rosary.
The church houses two treasures: a carved marble slab with interlaced ornamentation from the early 9th century, and an old wooden statue of Mary with Child, a relic from the original church. The interior is fully painted, with the highlight being The Sacrifice of Abraham, hidden behind the main altar. Next to the church stands a 26.5-meter-high bell tower, said to have been built in 1885 with funds from selling Swiss chard.
