Tona’s house

Museum, Sv. Peter

The Ethnological Collection Tona’s House is situated in the picturesque village of Sv. Peter in Slovenian Istria. This stone-built Istrian house from the 19th century belonged to the affluent farming family Gorela. It was named after Antonija Gorela, the last resident who lived there until 1961.

On the ground floor, visitors can explore a traditional oil mill (torkla), showcasing the olive oil production process using a stone mill, press, and oven with a cauldron for heating water. The first floor preserves living quarters with characteristic furniture, including a kitchen (kužina) with a fireplace and a bedroom (kamara), reflecting the lifestyle of Istrian farmers in the past .
