Holy Church of Our Lady of the Rosary
Church, Portorož
The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary is the main parish church in Portorož. It was consecrated in 1984 and is located at Cvetna pot 4, close to the town center.
With the rapid growth of tourism in the 20th century, the previous chapel became too small. The new church was built on the site of the former Palace Hotel nursery.
It is designed in a modernist style, featuring a polygonal nave and a concrete cross reminiscent of a ship’s mast. The interior includes a terracotta altar sculpture by Tone Demšar, stained glass windows by Mira Ličen Krmpotić, and a Stations of the Cross painted by Marta Kunaver.
The church has four bells, cast in 1993 in Innsbruck, and electropneumatic organs, installed in 1989 from Germany.
Today, it also functions as a cultural venue, hosting concerts and community events.
