Sailing Federation of Slovenia
Sailing club
The Sailing Federation of Slovenia was established in 1989 as the umbrella organization for Slovenian sailors. Today, it brings together 65 sailing clubs from across Slovenia, encompassing over 3,000 competitive and recreational sailors.
The federation serves as a crucial link between the state, clubs, and sailors, providing a structured environment for the development of sailing. In addition to competitive sailing, it promotes recreational sailing as a pleasant, healthy, and environmentally friendly leisure activity.
Each year, in collaboration with sailing clubs, it organizes nearly one hundred regattas along the Slovenian coast, catering to various sailor profiles and types of sailboats, from the youngest in the Optimist class to cruising sailboats in open classes and ORC.
Slovenian sailors achieve top results internationally. Notably, Vasilij Žbogar, a three-time Olympic medalist, and Tina Mrak and Veronika Macarol in the women’s 470 class. Young talents are also successfully developing in various sailing classes.
