Stjuža Lagoon
Natural attraction
The Stjuža Lagoon is Slovenia’s only marine lagoon, located in the heart of the Strunjan Landscape Park. It was formed over 400 years ago by an artificial embankment that separated part of the Strunjan Bay from the sea.
The lagoon is connected to the sea by a narrow channel, creating unique environmental conditions for a wide variety of plant and animal life. With an average depth of about 0.5 meters, the water warms and cools quickly.
The area is ideal for birdwatching, educational walks, and exploring a rare coastal ecosystem. Visitors can view the lagoon from walking trails and observation points nearby.
