Strunjan Cliff
Natural attraction
The Strunjan Cliff is the highest flysch cliff along the Adriatic Sea. It reaches a height of up to 80 meters and stretches for about 4 kilometers within the Strunjan Landscape Park.
Together with a 200-meter-wide marine strip below, it forms a nature reserve under special protection. The cliff is composed of soft flysch layers, formed around 40 million years ago. Due to exposure to wind, rain, and waves, it is continuously shaped by erosion.
At the foot of the cliff lies a natural pebble shoreline, accessible by foot from Strunjan or Bele skale. The area is vital for biodiversity, serving as a habitat for many rare and protected species.
From the top, visitors enjoy a panoramic view of the Gulf of Trieste, the salt pans, Moon Bay, and Piran. The cliff is a popular destination for hiking, nature observation, and landscape photography.
