Parking in Piran and Portorož – everything you need to know

Cars
In Piran, where the historic town center is closed to traffic, you can safely leave your car at the Amfora parking garage, located just outside the town. From there, a mini electric shuttle will take you directly to the picturesque town square.
In Portorož, multiple parking areas are available near the main promenade, hotels, and beaches. Whether you’re coming for a day trip, a romantic weekend, or a longer holiday, you’ll have no trouble finding a suitable parking spot.

Entry to Piran by car
Parking in Piran is allowed exclusively for residents with a special permit. External visitors are granted free entry for up to 15 minutes, intended for dropping off passengers and luggage. For longer parking, the public price list in the town center applies: during the summer period (1 March–31 October) each started hour costs €6.00, while in the winter period (1 November–28 February) each started hour costs €4.00.
Entry to Piran by bus
There is no bus parking in Piran. A single entry (also valid for a short stop when the bus only drops off passengers) of a tourist bus into the inner part of Piran — up to the bus station on Dante Street, with short-term parking of up to 30 minutes — costs €10.00. In case of exceeding 30 minutes, a fee of €120.00 is charged. A single entry of buses entering the town center due to the needs of cruise ships or other vessels costs €150.00 per day.

People with disabilities
Holders of a disabled parking permit can park for free or at a discounted rate in Portorož & Piran.
In Piran, an 80% discount on parking fees is offered in the Arze Garage. In Portorož, parking is free in all public disabled parking spaces (marked in yellow), as well as in other paid public spaces (marked in blue).
Electric charging stations
In Piran & Portorož, modern electric charging stations are available, allowing for easy and fast charging of your vehicle. They are located in convenient spots – near hotels, tourist attractions, and coastal promenades – so you can enjoy a coffee, a walk, or the view of Piran Bay while your car charges.
Unauthorized parking
If you parked improperly and received a notice on your vehicle, you can settle the payment at any Pošta Slovenije branch, at bank branches, or through your online banking (using a UPN payment).
If the notice was issued due to unpaid parking fees at public parking areas in the Municipality of Piran, the responsible authority for inquiries is the Public Company Okolje Piran. If the notice was issued due to illegal parking, the responsible authority is the Intermunicipal Administration of Istria.
