For some time now Piran has been a very popular location for various
film crews from India. This weekend a South Korean series Dear My Friends will be filmed in
Piran.
It is an important cooperation with the Slovenian
Tourist Board and the tourist agency Happy Tours, which has been active on
Korean market for quite some time. South Korea presents a remarkably promising market and last year there
was an increase in the number of visitors from Korea.
The film crew with over hundred members that will stay in Piran prides
itself with many famous Korean actors and one of them is Go Hyun-jung, who plays the main character and is one of the most
popular and best paid Korean television actresses. The series will be aired on tvN channel and Koreans
will certainly not be the only ones who will watch it. Their TV series are among the most watched in the
whole of East Asia, especially in Taiwan, China and Japan. Large groups of fans of Korean pop culture (so called
Hallyu or
the Korean wave) can be found all over the world.
The crew will also be filming in Ljubljana and Bled but they will be
staying longest in Piran and will shoot most of the scenes there because they
were especially charmed by the small coastal town. The filming of a TV series is very important for the
promotion of our destination in the East Asian market and is financially
supported by the Portorož Tourist Board.
Nine Chinese tourist operators that are visiting Piran on Sunday will
take care of additional tourist promotion in Asia.
