Moon Bay is another jewel of the Slovenian coast, best experienced from the sea on a SUP. Nestled beneath flysch cliffs, this bay is famous for its clear waters, which provide a haven for diverse marine life.
Thanks to the silent glide of our SUPs, we won’t disturb the underwater world, allowing us to observe schools of fish, spot noble pen shells, and snorkel among them in peace.

Itinerary of the SUP Adventure

We meet in the shade of the trees at the Salinera beach in Strunjan, where we hand out the equipment and give a basic introduction to those trying the sport for the first time. Then we set off, taking a moment near the shellfish beds to get comfortable on the SUP. We greet the Mediterranean shags, our regular visitors perched on the buoys, and begin our journey across the thousand shades of green and blue toward Moon Bay. This name fits well, as the sea here often shifts in color, either due to the changing seabed or the clouds gently moving across the sky.
Our first break is in Moon Bay, home to the highest flysch cliff in the Adriatic, rising directly from the sea. We use the stop for a refreshing swim and a dive into the sea. Since the water here is especially clear and pristine, we take some time for snorkeling and exploring the seabed.
When the sun is high, we continue toward Izola, using the current that carries us to the beach beneath Belvedere. There, in the shade of poplars, we enjoy a refreshing drink and grilled food—well earned after paddling a 4-kilometer route. Who would’ve thought, right?
This experience takes place in the Strunjan Landscape Park. Thank you for protecting nature.
