This Saturday, 1stDecember, Portorož and Piran will light
up with Christmas lights. The “All
Sweetness of Life” event series will start at 2 pm in the park of the
Kempinski Palace Portorož Hotel, and at the same time, visitors will be able to
participate at the opening of the Christmas
and New Year’s Market, with its rich crafts and culinary offer. In addition to buying unique gifts, visitors will be
able to taste delicious pancakes and warm themselves up with mulled wine and
hot tea. Next, there will be able the Ice Queen Procession through Portorož, accompanied by artists and stilt walkers with lights,
and children will be able to attend the Ice
Fairy Tale show.
Also, there will be no less than
20 concerts, animation shows and shows for kids – all with free entrance: On 7thDecember, the park will be visited by St.
Nicholas, on 16th December, by Miškolinček, and on 25th December by Santa Claus. There will also be
concerts by the artists and bands MC4, Hush Lush, Muzke, Dave’s Waves, Miha
Renčelj & Urška Forštnerič, MePZ Brnistra, Lado Leskovar as well
as Alen & Denis Mujkič. The Market will be open on 1stand 2nd December, from 7th until 9th December,
and from 14th until 16th December, as well as every day
from 1st December until 2nd January, from 2 pm until 9
pm.
In addition, from 15thDecember on, the events in Portorož will also be held at the Trg prekomorskih
brigad Square, where there will be an indoor Feel & Taste Culinary Market, featuring
home-made products. The programme will be further enriched by various concerts
and children workshops. The performers will include Jure Lesar (15thDecember), Istrian folk music band ZinGELCI (16th December),
and on the last day of the year, the location will feature the New
Year’s celebrations for children with Damjana Golavšek.
From 15th December
until 2nd January, the beach and park in front of the LifeClass
Hotels & Spa will be home to the Ice
Kingdom, featuring an ice-skating ring and a snowball-throwing park.
Children will be able to attend the merrymaking with fairy-tale characters and
shows for children, while adults will be able to enjoy Christmas stands,
culinary workshops and open-air concerts. The performers will include Neisha (15thDecember), Secret Disco (21st December), Lea Sirk (1stJanuary) and Natalija Verboten (5th January).
The Crystal Hall of the Kempinski
Palace Portorož Hotel will host the 7thSparkling Wine Festival on 26th December. There will
also be a performance by the tenorists of the Eroika Aromatika group.
Other December events in Portorož
and Piran
There will also be numerous other
events in Portorož and Piran throughout December. From 3rd December
until 10th December, Tartini Square in Piran will host the Tartini St. Nicholas’ Market, as well
as the Tartini New Year’s Marketfrom 20th December until 6th January. Visitors will also be able to buy some gifts for their loved ones at theChristmas and New Year’s Market at
Bernardin from 22nd December until 2nd January. On 22nd December, Tartini Square will host theAntiquities, Home-Made Craft and Gifts
of Nature Market.
On 14th December,
children will be able to attend the Slipper Keeper Kitty fairy tale
dance performance, and on 15th December, Portorož Auditorium will
get a visit from Sophie the Witch and
Father Frost. From 27th December until 30th December,
Tartini Square will host the New Year’s
Shows for children.
From 16th December
until 6th January, visitors to Piran will be able to see nativity scene in the churches in Piran. On
21st December, Portorož Auditorium will host the traditional
Christmas and New Year’s concert by Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra &
Choir, while on 28th December, Piran Theatre will host the
performance of 3 Big band Orchestra & Nuška Drašček.
At Tartini Square, Piran will
enter New Year along with the music of the band Manouche and
performer Slavko Ivančić. On New Year’s Day, Portorož Beach will
host the traditional New Year’s Plunge
into the Sea as well as magnificent
fireworks accompanied by a concert of Lea Sirk.
